Visiting the Monastery
The Monastery is open to the public on Sunday mornings and on Great Feast Days. On Friday evening there is a Discussion and Catechism Class which is open to all. If you wish to attend other services or spend time at the monastery, please let us know beforehand. There is no limit of time for visits to the monastery; but after three days visitors must help with the monastery chores and obediences. Only men may spend the night in the monastery. There is a small hotel a few miles down the road where women may stay.
Directions to the Monastery
By Automobile
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 19 (Kingston). After you pay your toll bear right and take Route 28 west toward Pine Hill.
Stay on Rte. 28 for 16.3 miles. At that point you will be in downtown Boiceville where you see the Onteora High School on your right.
The very next road after the High School is Piney Point Road which will also be on the right. Take Piney Point Road all the way up the mountain to the monastery. The distance from Rte. 28 to the monastery is 1.5 miles. At the top of the mountain start looking for the large Cross on top of the hill in the large open field on your right.
The next buildings are the monastery.
On your left, across the street from the monstery, you will see a white mail box with the numerals 521 on it.
This mailbox is directly across the street from the driveway entrance to the monatery. NOTE: At the townline Piney Point Road becomes Cold Brook Road. Do not be confused by this.
By Bus
From New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal proceed to the Trailways ticket counter. Purchase a ticket to Bearsville, N.Y. Tell the driver to leave you at the Bearsville Post Office. Call the monastery and inform us of when you will arrive there. The Post Office is 5 minutes from the monastery.
